What’s New For Valentine’s in my Fave Home Stores

Valentine’s Day is less than a month away and you don’t want it to creep up on you at the last minute.   I thought I would check to see what’s new for Valentine’s Day in my fave home decor stores and share them with you.  What are some of your fave home decor stores?  I bet we have some of the same favorites.

Valentines in my Fave Home Stores

You don’t have to have a Valentine to enjoy these Valentine’s Day marshmallows from Crate and Barrel. They would be perfect for your hot chocolate or pancakes.  Your kids will love them too.

Crate and Barrel also has the amazing heart waffle maker.  Don’t only make them once a year on Valentine’s Day.   You could make them on Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, birthdays and that special Saturday swim meet.  Just think of all the days you could use it.  Your family will really appreciate all the extra effort you’re taking to make the perfect breakfast.

Check out this journal What I Love About You by Me from Amazon.com.  This journal allows you to fill in the blanks of the book about your affections in a relationship with someone special.

The Cambria 16 piece dinnerware set in red is perfect for Valentine’s Day.  I know I’m a huge proponent of white dishes, but if I had to pick a speciality set I would pick red.  You can use it for so many holidays like Valentine’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Christmas. This set from Pottery Barn is just too amazing to pass up and it’s on sale right now.

These Williams Sonoma white wine glasses come in a set of 2 and would be perfect for a romantic dinner with your significant other or someone special in your life.  They would look amazing on your table set for 2.

Don’t forget to check Target’s online store for some Valentine’s Day decor.  They had this amazing pink rug that would welcome all your guests. This festive pink Valentine’s Love Hooked Rug is 18″by 30″ and would look amazing at the front door.

Show me some love and follow me on Pinterest.  I have a ton of beautiful home decor and creative topics that you would love.  I post to Instagram daily so check me out there too.

Valentine’s Day Family Brunch

As I’ve stated in other posts, Valentine’s Day is not my favorite holiday.  I don’t think you have to have a Valentine to celebrate this day.  You can think of it as spending extra time with your loved ones or doing something nice for a friend. People really just want to know that you appreciate them.  I thought it would be a great idea to hold a little brunch for your girlfriends or your family to show them how much they mean to you.  It doesn’t have to be anything extravagant, but just something to show you care.  Plus, I always love a good reason to have a mimosa.

The family Valentine’s Day Brunch

Let’s start off this brunch with some wonderful beverages.  To make some fabulous mimosas use a dry champagne of your choice and juice.  You can go with the traditional OJ, but the Mixed Berry is a wonderful alternative and that is the one I chose to make.  You use half part champagne and half part juice.  I chose to use cute glasses I got from Target and some decorative straws to add to the festivities.

Mixed Berries and Doughnuts make great brunch choices.

Mixed fruit made for a great addition to the breakfast for something healthy to eat.  you could also have muffins and bagels with cream cheese if you so choose.  Doughnuts on a gorgeous cake plate from CWonder was the main attraction, but don’t forget the cupcakes on the heart appetizer plates also from CWonder.  These plates were embellished with gold and black polka dots.  I just love them. As soon as I saw them I just had to have them.

Appetizer plates

I love these adorable heart appetizer plates.

The ribbon garland was one I made for my daughter’s 13th birthday and it just so happens the colors worked perfectly with this theme. I also had the red pom poms and thought they added to the decor.  I chose to use my mirrored gold chest for my display instead of my kitchen island because I thought it was a little more festive for this occasion.

My Valentine’s Day brunch is actually a new tradition I’ve started for my family.  We have always had a special breakfast, but I’ve never included my parents. This year I want to include them as well.

Yours Truly,

Jenn

What is the Nicest Thing Someone Has Done For You?

With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, love is definitely in the air.  I’m sure you are thinking of gifts for your significant other, your children, or a special friend.  I’m not a huge fan of Valentine’s Day myself.  I love to play along but, I don’t need my husband to tell me on a certain holiday that he loves me or to bring me flowers on the most expensive day of the year.    Since this commercial holiday is sticking around, I started thinking about the nice things people have done for me over the years.

They don’t have to be big things either (although, I seem to have really special people in my life who do tons of nice things for me).  I love when my husband takes my car to fill it up with gas or takes the trash down to the road.  Those kinds of things mean I don’t have to do it and it really fills my “love tank.”  He is sweet that way.  There are a couple things he has done that are really special and in the spirit of Valentine’s, I thought I would share a couple stories.

When we were newly engaged and were planning our wedding, Darin, would give me a monthly gift as a count down to our wedding date.  The gifts were always very thought out and sentimental.  I thought that was so romantic and it is still one of my favorite memories of planning my wedding. I know some women get a gift on their wedding day from their fiancé…I got a gift each month for a year from mine.

Another kind gesture that took so much effort was when I was put on bed rest during my first pregnancy.  Due to preeclampsia, I was on complete bed rest and was quite bored most of the time.  I resorted to watching tv, reading, and playing games with anyone who would visit. My favorite part of the day was when someone brought me the mail.  (Sad, I know).  My husband is not a game person.  He would rather watch or keep score. However, he is so smart that he is the person you want on your team.  He spent days working on making me a Jeopardy game.  Coming up with questions for Jeopardy, double Jeopardy and the final round. He planned the whole night where we had teams and everything. We all played right from my bedside. Although I was on bed rest, it is one of my best memories of my pregnancy.

Lastly, is a memory about my sister.  She came to stay with us in our tiny, first apartment. I had some shelves in the hallway with some decorations displayed.  She accidentally knocked my wedding topper off the shelf and it broke beyond repair.  Well, apparently it was hard to find another one like it.  On my 10th anniversary, I was surprised to receive a gift from her and her husband.  I couldn’t believe they had found the exact wedding topper.  My sister had spent months looking for it and finally found it for us.  She was so happy to be able to replace it and I was so surprised.

I would love to hear some of your most memorable stories or acts of kindness. Or it could be a really juicy, romantic memory that you just have to share.  It doesn’t have to be a Valentine memory.  Leave a comment below and share your story.

Love Mantel

I don’t usually decorate for Valentine’s Day, but was inspired.

Love you more"

I gave everyone a “love you More” pillow last year.

L-O-V-E

I used stickers and markers to spell out L-0-V-E on coffee mugs and then placed pink roses in them.

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY
